At Sidebar, We Make It Happen: Your Challenge This Week
The best opportunities aren’t given—they’re created. Take one bold step this week and make it happen.
Hi, everyone!
In the words of Walt Disney, “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”
This quote serves as a source of reflection this week, as well as an important reminder as we explore another important Core Value: We make it happen.
Think about your proudest accomplishments. They likely started with a single, bold decision—to take action. To leap forward, whether that meant starting a new job, launching a venture, or tackling an intimidating challenge.
Yet even when we know action is the key, we hesitate. That little voice creeps in:
"What if I fail?"
"What will people think?"
Fear of rejection. Imposter syndrome. Uncertainty. They all conspire to keep us stuck.
But what if we stopped waiting? What if, instead of eliminating our fears, we moved forward with them?
That’s what it means to make it happen.
At Sidebar, we don’t wait for opportunities—we create them. We set ambitious goals, take bold risks, and bet on ourselves – even when the path ahead isn’t clear. And we do it knowing we have a peer group that pushes us, supports us, and reminds us of our strengths—even when we doubt ourselves.
Last week, we talked about showing up. This week, it’s about taking the next step: doing.
💡 Our members prove what’s possible when we make it happen.
Eleanor Tweddell turned being laid off into her greatest career pivot. She didn’t just find a new job—she built one. She published a book, launched a business, and took control of her narrative.
Subha Shetty left a thriving product career to carve her own path in AI. Instead of waiting for doors to open, she kicked them down—immersing herself in learning, building new skills, and establishing herself as a thought leader in a cutting-edge field.
Randhir Vieira turned his expertise into impact by launching a Maven course on “How to Create Honest Conversations”.
Gail Conn is tackling an underserved market with determination, building out her adult diapers business. She’s leveraging Sidebar connections to break into hospitals and service providers—proving that entrepreneurship is about persistence and finding the right people to help you along the way.
John Kneeland took the ultimate leap—leaving the security of a full-time job to bring his vision to life. After months in stealth mode, he’s stepping into the spotlight with the launch of Genie.ai, proving that bold moves create big opportunities.
Feeling Inspired? Now it’s your turn.
Your challenge this week: Take one bold step forward – towards something that excites you (or maybe even scares you).
📌 Make that phone call.
📌 Apply for that opportunity.
📌 Pitch that idea.
📌 Stop overthinking. Start doing.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment—make it happen.
And to give you an extra push— the first three Sidebar members who publicly share one bold step they’re committing to this week will win a copy of Atomic Habits by James Clear. This book lays out simple but powerful strategies for turning ambition into reality through small, intentional steps.
