Every one of us has something to learn—and something to teach. At Sidebar, we recognize that growth is only possible when we show up for each other and share our time, knowledge, and support. That’s why we’re thrilled about our new AI-driven feature on our platform: Talk to an Expert, which makes it easier than ever to connect with the right people in our community. This is one of the most powerful features we have launched at Sidebar.
Whether you’re looking for career advice, hoping to break into a new industry, or are struggling with a leadership problem, our “Talk to an Expert” AI can recommend experts in our community who can help guide you. It is also a great way to meet people around you by searching: “people who live in Los Angeles.”
Here’s how it works: Enter a topic you need help with or a profile you’re looking to connect with, and Sidebar’s AI will suggest Sidebar members based on their expertise. From there, you can request a warm intro from me, and if they accept, you can start a meaningful conversation.
One of our Community Core Values is “We're Go-Givers.” We’ve talked a lot about what it means to be a Go-Giver in this community, and how magical things happen when we show up and support one another. This is your opportunity to put these values into practice. That’s why if someone reaches out to you for guidance, we encourage you to say “Yes!” Your first instinct might be, “I’m too busy,” or “I’m not sure if I can help.” But even a few minutes of your time—offering guidance, making an intro, or simply sharing encouragement—can be life-changing for someone else. And who knows? You may walk away with fresh insights of your own.
A founder I advise recently spoke at Diane von Furstenberg’s International Women’s Day Conference and shared powerful words that have stuck with me:
“When someone holds the door open for you, the most powerful thing you can do is say thank you—and hold the door open for someone else.”
