From Sidebar Supper Clubs to serendipity—you never know who you’ll meet.
Your next big opportunity might start over dinner 🍽️
Hi, everyone!
Imagine going to a casual dinner with peers—and coming home with a new job.
That’s exactly what happened to one of our members, Nico Posner. Nico is a seasoned product leader (he and I go way back to our eBay days in 2000!), a thoughtful human, and someone who, like many of us, spent the better part of a year navigating a tough job market.
Then one evening at a Sidebar Supper Club, he struck up a conversation with fellow member Tianyue Yu, founder and CEO of Q3D SENSING, INC.
They started jamming about hardware and software over dinner. That conversation turned into more discussions —and just like that, Tianyue offered him a job. Nico is now her VP of Product, thanks to one shared meal, a thoughtful exchange, and a little Sidebar serendipity.
(Read Nico’s full announcement here.)
And this isn’t a one-off. Just this past month:
✨ Rosalee Gordon and Kristin Chin landed new clients through Sidebar member referrals.
✨ Subha Shetty was hired by another member she met in her Circle.
✨ Countless others have shared how a single conversation—over dinner, in a Circle, or during an event—opened doors they never could have scripted.
But these kinds of wins don’t happen in a vacuum. They require you to put yourself out there, strike up new conversations, and find common ground, and there’s no better place to do that than at a gathering of like-minded peers.
If peer groups are the heartbeat of Sidebar, in-person connection is the soul. It’s where trust deepens. Where sparks fly. Where opportunities unfold. These stories are proof of the magic that happens when we make space to connect in real life.
So if you’ve been waiting for a sign to host something—this is it.
And it’s easy to get started:
🍽 Supper Clubs – Just pick a date, time, and restaurant—we’ll handle the invites. It’s a low-lift, high-reward way to meet fellow members and spark meaningful conversations.
🏠 Community Dinners – Want to open your home? You choose how many people to host, and we’ll help with the invites and even provide a food stipend. If you’re in a city with a Sidebar facilitator, they may join to help guide the table conversation and ensure a great experience.
We’ll support you every step of the way. Just reply to this email or message us at community@teamsidebar.com, and we’ll take care of the rest.
All you have to do is show up—with an appetite, and an open mind.
You never know where your next conversation might lead.
With gratitude,
Ha Nguyen
Head of Community, Sidebar
P.S. - A huge shout-out goes to Amira Youssef, recipient of our recent Make It Happen Community Award, who’s led countless NYC gatherings and helped facilitate so many of these life-changing conversations.
